Anette Obrestad Returns to Poker to Conquer Midlife Crisis
Anette Obrestad, the youngest champion in WSOP history, has returned to poker to conquer her midlife crisis. In a recent interview, she shared her journey and early career highlights. Obrestad started playing online poker at the age of 15, and her first online poker account was likely on PartyPoker.
Obrestad's first significant tournament win was on Ultimate Bet, a PLO tournament for $10 with rebuys. She won $1,000, which she used to start multi-tabling tournaments for $20-30. Obrestad has lived in Las Vegas for 16 years and has not followed modern poker players or tournaments in the last 9 years.
Obrestad has always been an introvert and prefers to live alone. She bought an apartment in Las Vegas and lived between Norway and the USA, but could not spend more than 180 days in the USA due to visa restrictions. Her first visit to Las Vegas was at the age of 17, and she has always preferred to have her own personal space.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
