Anatoly Zyrin Reflects on WSOP Experience: Challenges and Triumphs

Anatoly Zyrin, a notable poker player, recently shared his experiences from the World Series of Poker (WSOP). He finished second in the #17 $1,500 shootout tournament, just missing out on the bracelet. Despite this close call, Zyrin has continued to participate in various tournaments, including the #30 PLO tournament where he started the first day with the 10th largest stack.

Adapting to Las Vegas

Zyrin's adaptation to Las Vegas has been a mix of challenges and successes. He arrived on May 5th, giving himself ample time to adjust to the new environment. One of the key aspects of his adaptation was finding suitable accommodation with a kitchen, as he prefers to cook his own meals rather than eat out. This preference stems from the stress he feels when ordering food at restaurants, especially when he has to communicate with staff.

Tournament Insights

When asked about the WSOP fields, Zyrin mentioned that they are challenging but manageable. He noted that the fields are diverse, with a mix of top regulars, online players, and even some weak players. He also shared an interesting anecdote about a player who made it to the final table despite playing very few hands. Zyrin's strategy involves playing a few levels below the maximum limits, where he believes he has a positive win rate even against strong regulars.
