Poker Legend Amir Vahedi Passes Away at 58

Amir Vahedi, a renowned poker professional, passed away on January 8, 2010, at the age of 58 due to complications related to diabetes. Vahedi was born in 1952 in Iran and later emigrated to the USA.

Vahedi won his only World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet in 2003 in a $1,500 tournament. In the same year, he reached the final table of the WSOP Main Event but finished in 6th place after an unlucky bluff against Sam Farha.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
