Amaya Secures License to Operate in New Jersey, USA

Amaya, the parent company of popular poker brands PokerStars and Full Tilt, has received a license to operate in New Jersey. This move marks a significant step for the company as it expands its presence in the regulated US market.

On September 30, 2015, Amaya was granted the license, allowing it to offer real-money poker games in New Jersey. David Baazov, CEO of Amaya, expressed excitement about entering the New Jersey market, stating, “We are very pleased to add New Jersey to the long list of regulated markets that have embraced PokerStars and Full Tilt for real-money play.”

In related news, a closed meeting of top managers from major poker sites, including Unibet, 888poker, partypoker, iPoker, and MPN, is scheduled to take place in London in October. The meeting, organized by Global Poker Index, will discuss the future of the poker industry and ways to popularize the game. Amaya's participation in the meeting is not confirmed.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
