Gennadiy Altshuller Reveals 5 Common Mistakes in Low-Limit PLO Poker
Gennadiy Altshuller, a seasoned poker player and coach, has spent the last few months playing low-limit PLO marathons and coaching players at $1/$2 stakes. During this time, he identified five common mistakes made by regular players in these games.
One of the most frequent errors is making bets without a clear reason. Altshuller explains that every bet in poker should have a purpose, such as betting for value, as a bluff, for protection, or to maintain a balanced range. Many players, however, make bets without considering these factors, often leading to poor decisions.
Another mistake highlighted by Altshuller is using bet sizes that reveal the strength of one's hand, especially on later streets like the turn and river. He advises players to consider the board texture, the relative strength of their range and their opponent's range, and the stack-to-pot ratio (SPR) when determining bet sizes. This approach helps to avoid giving away too much information to opponents.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
