In Las Vegas, the Global Poker Awards ceremony took place, with 26 nominations and winners announced for each. Bosnian poker player Ali Imsirovic made history by winning three categories: Player of the Year, PokerGO Tour Player of the Year, and Most Uncomfortable Opponent.
Ali Imsirovic won 14 tournaments and over $6,000,000 in prize money in 2021. All of his victories were in high roller series from PokerGo. His successful results in expensive events allowed him to outperform others in the Most Uncomfortable Opponent category.
Other notable winners include Adam Friedman, who won the Best Result After Final Table nomination for his three victories in the WSOP 10K Dealer’s Choice 6-Max Championship. Johan Gilber was named GPI Breakthrough of the Year, while Benjamin 'Spraggy' Spragg was awarded Best Streamer.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
