Ali Imsirovic: From Refugee to Poker Prodigy
Ali Imsirovic's family fled Bosnia when he was three years old and moved to Washington, USA, with only $500. Imsirovic started playing poker illegally during the Black Friday crisis at the age of 16. His family's work ethic and determination inspired him to succeed. Imsirovic won a $60 tournament at a local poker hall, which set his career in motion.
Imsirovic dropped out of Washington State University one semester shy of earning his degree to pursue poker full-time. He admitted that he took some shots too early and lost a large part of his bankroll during a trip to the Choctaw Casino in Oklahoma. Imsirovic was able to rebuild his bankroll and take more shots, something he has never shied away from.
One of his biggest poker accomplishments came in 2018 when he won two Poker Masters events for over $1.2 million and the highly coveted purple jacket. Imsirovic is currently ranked first on the PokerGo Tour leaderboard with $4,850,460 in earnings.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
