Russian Poker Player Alexey Shares His Journey and Insights
Alexey, a 46-year-old poker player from Moscow, has been playing poker since 2006. He started his poker journey on iPoker, transitioning from NL50 to a 16-table grind at NL20 (€ and £).
Alexey's wife supports his poker playing as he has been profitable. He enjoys watching football and boxing, and playing chess daily on FICS. His favorite TV show is How I Met Your Mother (HIMYM).
Alexey's main poker achievement is living off his poker earnings. He rates his poker skill at 2-3 out of 10. His best poker session involved making 9K$ on NL20 over a month. Alexey admires the poker diary of Forheili on the GipsyTeam forum. He wishes to learn English, improve his boxing, and achieve a 2600 rating in chess. Alexey's favorite alcoholic drink is vodka, though he rarely drinks due to age and health.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
