Adrián Mateos Sweeps Two Major Poker Awards in Two Days
In an unprecedented feat, Adrián Mateos has won two major poker awards in as many days. The young Spanish poker player was awarded the 2013 Poker-Red Player of the Year award, adding to his 2013 Poker-Red Rookie of the Year award won the day before.
Mateos' victory in the Main Event of the WSOPE in Paris, where he left the Spanish poker scene at its peak, was a significant contributor to his win. His victory in the Estrellas Poker Tour of Madrid also played a crucial role in securing the award.
Mateos finished 20 points ahead of notable players such as Carlos Mortensen, Sergio Aído, Ana Márquez and Daniel Cascado, who were all in the running for the award. This remarkable achievement has cemented Mateos' status as one of the most talented and promising poker players in the world.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
