WSOP Nears Finale, Ivey Poker Room Opens
The World Series of Poker (WSOP) is nearing its conclusion with the final tournament remaining. The championship is being closely watched by fans and players alike. Notably, Tom Dwan and Gus Hansen registered for Day 1C but did not appear at the tables; their stacks advanced to Day 2 on autopilot. Gus Hansen was the longest player at the table, with an estimated $1.5 million in front of him.
Meanwhile, the Ivey Poker room, named after Phil Ivey, has finally opened, initially only on Facebook. The design of the room is described as very template-based, reminiscent of previous ventures by Phil Ivey in the poker business. The room features a buy chips button that leads to a virtual shop where users can purchase souvenirs and educational videos. Despite the lack of real-money games, the room is already generating revenue through the sale of virtual items.
Phil Ivey himself has agreed to become the face of another poker site, Tribal Online Poker, under the leadership of former bwin.party director Jim Ryan. This new poker room is planned to open in California after the legalization of online gaming in the state.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
