The True Value of WSOP Bracelets: More Than Just Gold
The WSOP bracelet is a symbol of success and prestige in the poker world. Discover the history and significance of these coveted trophies.
Daniel Negreanu's tweet inspired Bill "Zimba" Sybert to determine the real value of the gold bracelets awarded to World Series of Poker winners. From 1970 to 1974, World Series champions received champion cups. In 1975, champions received silver plaques. Bracelets have been awarded to winners of all official World Series tournaments since 1976.
The first year, 8 bracelets were awarded, with two won by Doyle Brunson, including one in the main event. In 1990, 14 bracelets were awarded, and in 2000, the number increased to 24. In 2005, 45 bracelets were awarded, and in 2010, 57 bracelets were awarded in Las Vegas, with an additional 4 at WSOPE in London. This year, 58 bracelets are up for grabs in Vegas, with an additional 6 in Europe. Over 35 years, approximately 900 bracelets have been awarded.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
