WSOP 2025: Epic Moments and Big Winners in the Main Event
The WSOP 2025 has been a rollercoaster of excitement, with several notable moments and winners emerging from the main event.
Mike Gorodinsky's Fifth Bracelet
Mike Gorodinsky made history by winning his fifth bracelet in the WSOP 2025 $10,000 8-Game Mix tournament, earning $422,421. His victory was particularly impressive given the challenging circumstances he faced during the heads-up phase. Gorodinsky's stack of 1.5 million chips was significantly larger than Erik Wasserson's 10 million chips, and he had to overcome feeling unwell throughout the day. Despite the odds, Gorodinsky managed to win several crucial hands in a row, securing his victory.
Kary Katz's Surprise Win
Kary Katz, owner of the PokerGo channel and studio, won the $2,500 NLHE freezeout tournament, taking home $449,245. Katz's victory was unexpected, as he had not initially planned to participate in the tournament. However, a strong desire to play led him to the casino, where he ultimately emerged victorious. Katz is known for his influential role in poker reform, introducing innovations such as ante on the big blind, early registration discounts, and widespread use of time banks.
Zdenek Zizka's Victory and Controversy
Zdenek Zizka won the $1,000 tournament, earning $232,498. In the heads-up phase, Zizka faced Sean Deeb, who finished second with $154,906. However, Zizka's victory was overshadowed by allegations of collusion with Martin Kabrhel in a previous $25k PLO tournament in Tallinn. The accusations led to increased scrutiny and eventual elimination of both players from the top positions. Despite the controversy, Zizka expressed his gratitude and satisfaction with his performance.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
