WPT LAPC: Carlos 'Mataador' Mortensen Leads the Pack
The World Poker Tour (WPT) Los Angeles Poker Classic (LAPC) tournament is in full swing, with notable players and exciting moments unfolding. Daniel Negreanu was eliminated from the tournament in 66th place. He lost to Carlos Mortensen, known as 'Mataador', who is now the chip leader with 1,669,000 chips. Mortensen won the 2007 WPT Championship at Bellagio with a prize of $3,970,415.
Mark Newhouse is the second-place chip leader with 1,308,000 chips. The tournament has seen several players eliminated, with the remaining 22 players vying for the top spots. The average stack size is 677,272 chips, and Michael Kamran, a friend of Ilyushan, has 327,000 chips. We wish him luck.
In other news, Canadian scientists have recommended poker as a stress reliever. They found that playing online poker can lower cortisol levels, the hormone associated with stress. The complexity of the game requires full concentration, helping players forget about other stressors.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
