Vitaly Lunkin's Remarkable Run at the World Series of Poker
Vitaly Lunkin's poker career has seen a meteoric rise this year, marked by a series of impressive achievements. On May 17, Lunkin won the main tournament of the Russian Poker Tour. This victory was just the beginning of his remarkable streak.
Just ten days later, on May 27, 2009, Lunkin secured another victory in the second tournament of the World Series of Poker. This event, with a buy-in of $40,000, featured 200 participants, including some of the world's top poker players. Daniel Negreanu described this tournament as "the most difficult no-limit Texas hold'em tournament in the world."
Lunkin's success continued with a 2nd place finish in the World Championship of Pot-Limit Omaha, which had a buy-in of $10,000. His performance in this tournament further cemented his status as a top poker player. Most recently, Lunkin finished in 4th place in the World Championship of H.O.R.S.E. with a buy-in of $50,000.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
