Twitch Deletes Poker Streams Due to DMCA Violations

Twitch, a popular streaming platform among poker enthusiasts, has recently faced a surge in DMCA takedown requests for streams and videos containing background music from 2017 to 2019. This has led to the deletion of numerous recordings from poker streamers' channels.

GGпокерок, a well-known Asian poker room, recently launched its own Twitch channel, adding to the community of poker streamers on the platform. However, the sudden influx of DMCA requests has caused significant disruptions. Twitch's support team advised streamers to delete old clips if they are unsure about the audio rights, acknowledging the challenge this poses for those with large archives.

Fintan Hand, a member of Team PokerStars Online, expressed his frustration on Twitter, stating that compiling a playlist of non-copyrighted music has been a nightmare. He hopes for an easier solution, such as using music services like Amazon or Spotify during live streams. Ben Spragg, another member of Team PokerStars, had to delete over 1,000 videos from his channel to avoid DMCA strikes, describing the process as humiliating but necessary.
