Turkey Cracks Down on Illegal Betting: Thousands of Accounts Blocked
Turkey has taken decisive action against illegal gambling by blocking thousands of bank accounts used for betting during the FIFA World Cup final. The country's authorities identified and shut down 6,314 bank accounts that were involved in illegal betting activities.
In a coordinated effort with the Ministry of Interior, the Justice Minister Akin Gurlek announced that 19 financial institutions were found to be facilitating illegal betting. Additionally, 23 suspects allegedly involved in illegal gambling have been identified and are set to be arrested.
This crackdown comes ahead of the World Cup final match between Spain and Argentina, which saw Spain emerge victorious with a 1-0 score. The operation underscores Turkey's commitment to combating illegal gambling and protecting the interests of its citizens.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
