Tom Dwan's Epic Poker Showdown with Phil Ivey

Tom Dwan, known as 'Durrrr' in the poker world, had a remarkable streak of wins recently. From April 5 to April 7, 2010, Dwan won $1,179,726 over three days. This impressive performance included wins in various games, with notable earnings of $236,000 in 7 games, $482,000 in hold'em, and $463,000 in PLO.

On April 9, 2010, Phil Ivey returned from a long break to play against Tom Dwan in a PLO $500/$1000 game. Ivey won $316,000 against Dwan. The high-stakes game continued into the middle of the week, with both players competing in a $500/$1000 PLO game. Dwan secured a significant win with a $449,969 pot, where he held a straight against Ivey's set of valets.

Despite the intense competition, Tom Dwan continues to lead the 2010 poker year with an impressive $5.7 million in winnings. This achievement places him far ahead of other players, with Patrick Antonius having the largest loss at -$2.4 million.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
