Tom Dwan's Multi-Million Dollar Bluff: The Story Behind the Legendary Poker Move
Tom Dwan, a renowned poker player known for his hyper-aggressive style, recently shared a thrilling story about one of his biggest bluffs ever. In a Reddit “Ask Me Anything” session, Dwan recounted a multi-million dollar bluff he ran in a short-deck game in Asia.
Dwan was bluffing with QJ on a flop of AT9. He bet a 7 on the turn and faced a raise from his opponent. Dwan then re-raised 85% of his stack, a move he explained was due to his opponent's habit of calling with pair and open-ender hands.
The river card was an ace or nine, and Dwan shoved the rest of his stack, albeit for a small percentage of the pot. His opponent, after going into the tank for a few seconds, folded. The pot was roughly 15% of seven figures. Dwan's opponent saw his cards on the way to the muck, and as a result, became a calling station for a week afterwards.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
