Swedish Poker Pro Slaktarn's High-Stakes September 2008
In September 2008, Swedish player slaktarn won around $2,000,000 on Full Tilt, becoming a notable figure in high-stakes online poker. Slaktarn reached the final of a HU PLO tournament with a $25,000 buy-in and defeated Patrick Antonius. He also finished third in an NLH tournament with a $2,620 buy-in, leaving behind 846 competitors.
Slaktarn started his poker career with $10,000 borrowed from a friend and quickly moved to high-stakes tables. He named Patrick Antonius as his strongest opponent and Gus Hansen as his weakest. Tom Dwan challenged slaktarn to a high-stakes match after a heated exchange in September 2008.
Slaktarn lost over $1,000,000 in a few days playing PLO $200/$400 with top players like Patrick Antonius and Tom Dwan. In one session, slaktarn lost $489,006 in 339 hands, including a $434,139 bank to Ilari Sahamies. Phil Ivey played short sessions of PLO $500/$1,000 against Tom Dwan but felt uncomfortable and left the table frequently. Tim Fan, known as LoLiNa, lost $330,636 in a short Omaha Hi-Lo session against Phil Ivey.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
