Sam Soverel Wins WSOP Online High Roller Championship
Sam Soverel, known by the nickname “ApesSonIMHO”, won the WSOP Online High Roller Championship, earning $393,516. The tournament had a $5300 buy-in and a live heads-up final. Soverel was one of 408 entries in the tournament.
Joshua Arieh, known as “Nitbuster”, was the unfortunate bubble spot. Among those who made the paid spots but didn’t trouble the final table were Joe McKeehen, Shaun Deeb, Maria Ho, Erik Seidel, and Matt Berkey.
The final table included six players with six bracelets between them. Gergely Kulcsar finished second, earning $284,784. Soverel prefers live poker over online, stating, “I hadn’t played online since late-2020. Honestly, I don’t really trust the online environment. Live’s fun. It’s more social. It’s way better to me.”

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
