From Chemistry Student to Poker Pro: Raefael Serpe's Unlikely Journey

Raefael Serpe, born in 1986 in a French village, had an unusual path to becoming a professional poker player. His journey began in 2006 when a friend introduced him to the game during his college years. Serpe, who was studying chemistry at the time, quickly found himself drawn to the strategic nature of poker, which he compared to his love for chess and strategic computer games.

One pivotal moment in Serpe's life occurred in August 2007 at a casino in Lyon. With a bankroll of just 500 euros, he managed to turn it into 1,600 euros in a single evening. This significant win convinced him to pursue poker professionally. He officially became a professional poker player in October 2007, a decision he now considers both foolish and fortunate.

Serpe's career has taken him to various parts of the world, including the United States, Asia, and Europe. He has participated in numerous poker tournaments and has even won prizes in live events. Currently, Serpe resides in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, with his wife and son, continuing to build his poker career and enjoying the tropical climate.
