PokerStars Announces New Buy-In Limits for Cash Games
PokerStars has announced significant changes to the minimum buy-in limits for cash games, following the lead of its main competitors. The changes, which will come into effect on Tuesday or Wednesday, were announced by a PokerStars representative on the 2+2 forum.
The new buy-in limits will be introduced across three types of tables:
- 20-50 big blinds (default buy-in 40 bb)
- 40-100 big blinds (default buy-in 80 bb)
- 100-250 big blinds with an ante of 1/5 bb (default buy-in 200 bb)
The waiting time to re-enter a table with a smaller amount has been increased to 1 hour. These changes were made following requests from players, particularly those on the 2+2 forum, and are aimed at restoring balance to the game. The buy-in limits on tables will be reviewed at the end of each year. The changes do not affect tables playing in euros.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
