Poker Pros Debate Online Game Changes: Anonymous Tables, Rush Poker, and More

Poker players have been actively discussing potential changes to the dynamics of online poker. Ivan Demidov, forhayley, feruell, and Aleksey Makarov shared their thoughts on various proposals, including anonymous tables, rush poker, and the 'king of the hill' system.

Ivan Demidov agrees that the problems mentioned by Phil exist and need to be addressed. However, he does not support anonymous tables, as he believes they would eliminate the essence of poker. He suggests that changing nicknames once a month could be interesting but might allow players to hide more frequently. Demidov finds the idea of rush poker appealing but worries it might kill the game on regular tables. He also dislikes must-move tables both online and offline.

forhayley believes the main problem in poker is the lack of new players, not the issues mentioned in the article. He thinks anonymous tables would open up opportunities for bots, collusion, and cheating. forhayley suggests that changing nicknames regularly could help combat sites like PTR and OPR. He also supports the idea of a fixed number of tables for heads-up games to improve the discipline.

feruell believes the discussion is not productive and that players should focus on making profit. He suggests that implementing rush poker on high limits and push-or-fold tables on PokerStars could be beneficial. Aleksey Makarov supports the idea of implementing the 'king of the hill' system in heads-up games. He also suggests shuffling players at the table every hand in 6-max games to address issues with seating. Makarov thinks noname tables should be introduced due to the weak influx of new money and strong selection by regulars.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
