Poker Players Protest Commerce Casino's Anti-Online Poker Stance
Commerce Casino has publicly opposed the legalization of online poker in the USA. During hearings on the HR 2267 bill, Tom Malcasian, a representative of Commerce Casino, spoke against the legislation. He argued that the bill was based on incorrect assumptions and contained contradictions.
Poker players were quick to react, creating a website called Players Before Profits to collect signatures for an open letter to Commerce Casino. The letter criticizes the casino for prioritizing its corporate interests over those of all poker players in the USA. It also highlights that many players develop their skills online before visiting casinos like Commerce.
The open letter has been signed by over a thousand professional poker players, including notable names such as Doyle Brunson, Chris Ferguson, Daniel Negreanu, Patrik Antonius, Allen Cunningham, Phil Hellmuth, Phil Laak, Huck Seed, and Erik Seidel. The players are calling for a boycott of one of the most popular poker rooms in California, located within Commerce Casino.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
