Poker Player's Desperate Gambit: Missing the EPT 2009 Tournament
The author was in Prague for the Day 1A of the EPT 2009 tournament. He felt desperate and hopeless, comparing his situation to that of a condemned man awaiting execution.
The author had around 1000 euros in cash, some money stuck on moneybookers due to transfer limits, and about 1000 euros in a bank account. He considered various desperate measures, including faking an injury or illness to avoid playing the tournament.
The author ultimately decided to miss the tournament by oversleeping, as it seemed the most reasonable option.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
