Poker World Shaken by Legal Issues and Tournament Action
In the aftermath of the Black Friday scandal, John Campos and Chad Elie have pleaded guilty to lesser charges to avoid trial. They face between 6 months and a year in jail for bank fraud and participating in an illegal gambling business. This development comes as part of the ongoing legal fallout from the events of a year ago, with more trials and sentencings expected throughout the remainder of the year.
Meanwhile, the European Poker Tour (EPT) Campione has seen some notable action. Alex Casals Balaguer, known as MrKlout, qualified for the EPT Campione Day 1B, while Javier Etayo, known as anguila, was eliminated on Day 1B. MrKlout will share a table with Bryn Kenney, partner of Ana Márquez. The day's leader was Davide Andreoni, closely followed by Nick Yunis and Nicolas Chouity.
In other news, the Norwegian Poker Championship will be held in Dublin for the fourth consecutive year. Due to Norway's legal restrictions, which classify poker tournaments as lotteries, the event must be held outside the country. This year, the Citywest Hotel in Dublin will host approximately 1,200 Norwegian participants.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
