Poker World Abuzz with Ice Bucket Challenge and Hall of Fame Nominations
The poker world is abuzz with the latest news and events, including the Ice Bucket Challenge and the announcement of the 2014 Poker Hall of Fame nominees. The nominees for this year are Chris Bjorin, Bruno Fitoussi, Huck Seed, Ted Forrest, Mike Matous, Daniel Negreanu, Jennifer Harman, Humberto Brenes, Bob Hooks, and Jack McClelland.
Eric Seidel proposed a change in the nomination process, suggesting that three nominees should be chosen by professional players and the rest by the public. Phil Hellmuth supported this idea. The final results will be announced on November 9, the eve of the Main Event final.
Doyle Brunson and Daniel Negreanu both expressed their doubts about the nomination list. Brunson criticized the list, stating that most nominees do not meet the necessary criteria. Negreanu also questioned the list, expressing doubt that it is based solely on the votes of poker enthusiasts. He noted the absence of obvious candidates like John Juanda, Carlos Mortensen, Gus Hansen, and Bobby Hoff.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
