Poker Pro Discusses Strategic 6-Bet Call in High-Stakes Game

The hand in question occurred during a $40/80 NLHE 6-max game. Hero (SB) was dealt 9c 6c and faced a series of raises and re-raises from other players. AARookie (BB) was known for his aggressive 4-betting strategy, with a 40% 4-bet rate. Takechip, known as FLIPokerHer on FullTilt, had a strategy of opening with nearly 100% of hands from the button. Hero decided to 3-bet with 9c 6c due to the aggressive nature of AARookie and the strategy of Takechip. AARookie's 4-bet range was estimated to be between 12% and 35% of hands. Hero's 5-bet was considered profitable due to AARookie's wide 4-bet range. AARookie's 6-bet was seen as potentially bluffing, but Hero decided to call with 9c 6c.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
