Phil Ivey's High-Stakes Gambling Tour: Inside the Legend's World

Phil Ivey's manager, Chris “Gotti” Lorenzo, contacted the author to invite him to join Ivey on his trip. The journey began on September 9, 2009, when Phil Ivey arrived at the Grand Pequot Tower in Foxwoods Casino, Connecticut, at 20:35.

Phil Ivey played a high-stakes game of craps at Foxwoods Casino, winning $185,000. The atmosphere was serene, with a quiet intensity as Ivey and his manager, Chris “Gotti” Lorenzo, engaged in the game. Ivey's expression remained unchanged whether he won or lost, showcasing his composure under pressure.

Later, while at the Groton-New London airport, Phil Ivey signed an autograph for an airport manager who requested it. He also tipped the manager $1,000 for the delay caused by his flight. Phil Ivey transferred $1 million from his account while in a limousine en route to Casino de Montréal. He owns a SLR McLaren worth $500,000 and a Rolls-Royce Phantom worth $400,000, highlighting his affluent lifestyle.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
