Chance Kornuth, a 34-year-old professional poker player from Denver, Colorado, is known for his expertise in tells and is the founder of the educational site Chip Leader Coaching. He has won two WSOP bracelets: one in PLO $5,000 in 2010 and another in an online NLHE tournament for $3,200 in 2018.
The match has seen significant shifts in leadership. Phil Galfond initially led but later fell behind, with Chance Kornuth winning approximately 30 buy-ins. Phil Galfond regained the lead in December, with a significant advantage but also a high level of luck. Chance Kornuth mentioned that he hadn't played Omaha one-on-one for about five years before accepting Phil Galfond's challenge. He has been receiving help from other specialists for simulations and theory discussions. Phil Galfond has been collaborating with Elliot Rower during the match, discussing strategies twice a week. Chance Kornuth has surprised Phil Galfond with his strong play, noting that he is one of the world's strongest players.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
