Ohio Police Raid Two Illegal Gambling Venues, Seize Machines and Cash
In a significant crackdown on illegal gambling, the Akron Police Department (APD) and the Ohio Casino Control Commission (OCCC) executed search warrants at two locations in Akron, Ohio, on Tuesday. The operation was part of an ongoing effort to combat illegal gambling in the state.
Law enforcement agents, joined by the OCCC, executed search warrants at 1283 E. Tallmadge Ave and 141 E. York St in Akron. The raids follow complaints filed with police, claiming that two venues offered gambling activities without the required license.
At the two locations, law enforcement and OCCC agents disabled or seized 27 illegal slot machines. Additionally, an undisclosed amount of US currency was seized. Matthew Schuler, the OCCC's Executive Director, emphasized the importance of collaboration with local law enforcement in upholding Ohio's gaming laws and rooting out illegal gaming in the state.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
