Nikolay Evdakov Reflects on His WSOP 2008 Experience
Nikolay Evdakov was interviewed in Las Vegas in early July 2008 for the eighth issue of PokerNews magazine. Evdakov was on the cover of PokerNews magazine issue 8, 2008, which featured a special photoshoot in Las Vegas.
Evdakov mentioned that the structure of tournaments in America is different from those in Russia, with longer levels and larger starting stacks. He noted that he learned from the experience of Alexander Kravchenko, who played solidly and won a bracelet.
Evdakov mentioned that he initially took breaks to spend time with his family but increased his play as he got closer to the record. He revealed that he did not initially aim for any records and only learned about the record after his fourth cash finish. Evdakov mentioned that he played in two tournaments simultaneously to ensure he would make it into the money. He stated that he did not feel particularly lucky during the WSOP but acknowledged that luck is essential in poker.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
