Nick Shulman on Poker Commentating, High-Stakes Games, and Life in Bobby's Room
Nick Shulman, a well-known poker commentator and player, recently opened up about his experiences in the poker world. He discussed his temporary removal from commenting on the fifth day of a WSOP tournament, which was due to a misunderstanding. Shulman felt uncomfortable with the outpouring of support from the poker community during his temporary removal.
Shulman enjoys commenting on poker because he loves no-limit hold'em and has a background in analyzing sports broadcasts. He believes that his ability to explain the game and keep up with the action makes him a good commentator. However, he also feels that there is too much competition among commentators and that he does not want to be involved in that.
Shulman plays primarily in Bobby's Room, where he enjoys high-stakes mixed games. He believes that solvers have not ruined poker and that live games offer many unique factors that make the game interesting. Shulman has played many thousands of hours of poker and has a deep understanding of the game.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
