New Jersey Casinos Face Uncertain Future as Revenue Drops

The Atlantic County Economic Alliance (ACEA) warns that Atlantic City casinos could lose over 5,100 jobs by 2035. The ACEA report highlights that falling revenue could significantly impact tax dollars coming into New Jersey's state coffers. New Jersey legislators have considered adding two new casinos in the northern part of the state at the Meadowlands and Monmouth Park. The Showboat, Trump Plaza, Atlantic Club, and Trump Taj Mahal casinos have all closed in Atlantic City over the past decade. New Jersey has seen a net outbound migration of 192,000 residents since 2020, according to the United Van Lines 2025 National Movers Study.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
