NBA Stars Arrested in Major Poker and Gambling Scandal
Two prominent NBA figures, Choncy Billups and Terry Rozier, were arrested in a major sports scandal involving poker and gambling. Choncy Billups, a member of the NBA Hall of Fame and the former head coach of the Portland Trail Blazers, was arrested.
Terry Rozier, a player for the Miami Heat, was arrested and accused of manipulating NBA game bets using insider information. Rozier and five accomplices are accused of manipulating bets on NBA games using insider information, earning over $200k in one instance. Rozier allegedly informed accomplices about his injury and subsequent exit from a game, allowing them to place bets on his individual performance metrics.
Billups is accused of providing insider information about Portland Trail Blazers matches in March 2023. Billups and other professional athletes were used as bait to attract players to high-stakes poker games, which were organized in various cities including Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and New York.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
