Merkur Casino UK Welcomes New Head of Compliance
Merkur Casino UK has appointed Dan Whitlam as its new Head of Compliance. Whitlam, a former Gambling Commission and GamCare insider, will start his role on September 28, 2026, and report directly to Chief Financial Officer Egemen Coskun.
Whitlam's appointment is part of the company’s succession planning ahead of Amanda Kiernan’s retirement in April 2027. This timing allows for a structured handover and continuity within this important function.
In his new role, Whitlam will help provide strategic leadership and independent oversight across regulatory compliance, safer gambling, player protection, AML and financial crime prevention, as well as data protection and governance.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
