Martí Roca's Historic Win: From Teacher to Poker Champion
Martí Roca, a former economics teacher from Mataró, Spain, made history by winning the Main Event of the World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE) held at the King's Casino in Rozvadov. Martí turned an initial investment of 250€ into over 1.100.000€, securing one of the most significant prizes in Spanish poker history.
Martí's journey into the world of poker began casually around 2010-2011, playing with friends. He soon transitioned to online poker, building a small bankroll through cash games and later discovering the excitement of Multi-Table Tournaments (MTTs). His first significant win came in a Sunday Storm Special Edition tournament, where he took home 57,000$.
Martí's poker career has been marked by strategic shifts. He initially focused on Sit & Go (S&G) tournaments but later returned to cash games, becoming a regular in NL100 and NL200 games on PokerStars.es and 888poker.es. His recent qualification for the WSOPE Main Event through an online satellite on 888poker.es highlights his continued success and dedication to the game.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
