Kalshi Halts Prohibited Contracts in Nevada Starting August 12
Kalshi, a prediction market platform, will start geofencing customers in Nevada from August 12, 2026, to exclude prohibited trades. This decision comes after a joint consideration between the company and the Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB).
Kalshi faces a $120,000-per-day fine if it does not comply with the NGCB. The platform will specifically prevent customers from placing trades on sports event contracts, entertainment events, or election races.
The Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB) and Kalshi reached an agreement on July 24, 2026. Mike Dreitzer, NGCB Chairman, stated that Kalshi will face stiff penalties if it does not comply with Nevada law. The NGCB had previously ordered Kalshi to stop offering event contracts in Nevada in May.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
