Kalshi Faces Lawsuit as Caesars Bans Credit Cards for Online Gaming
Kalshi, a popular market prediction platform, is facing a lawsuit from a gambler from Raynham, Massachusetts. The gambler alleges that he lost tens of thousands of dollars while trading sports event contracts on the platform. The lawsuit is based on the Statute of Anne, which allows gamblers to sue illegal gambling operators to recover their money. It is unclear whether the lawsuit will gain traction, as Kalshi officially does not offer gambling activities but trades futures contracts and is regulated by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.
Caesars Entertainment has become the latest operator to prohibit the use of credit cards on its gaming platforms. This ban affects all of Caesars Digital's brands, including Horseshoe Casino, Caesars Sportsbook & Casino, Caesars Racebook, and Caesars Palace Online Casino. Other operators that have recently taken similar actions include DraftKings, FanDuel, bet365, and BetMGM.
Warren Buffett, in a recent interview with CNBC, cautioned against prediction markets, comparing such day trading to gambling. He criticized the concept of prediction markets offering 'one-day options,' acknowledging that such transactions are not investing but speculating, adding that this essentially makes the activity resemble gambling.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
