Johnny Chan's Houston Card Room Rebranded as 101 Poker Club

Johnny Chan's cardroom in Houston, Texas, was closed amid claims and counterclaims of financial impropriety. Sanjeev Vora, the CEO of a petrochemical company and an avid poker player, has purchased Johnny Chan’s 88 Social and rebranded it as the 101 Poker Club. Vora refused to comment on the rumors surrounding the demise of the Johnny Chan’s 88 Social.

Vora stated that he is in the business to be profitable and wants to ensure the integrity, ethics, and honesty of the club. He named his new club 101 Poker Club after his favorite cardroom in the nearby city of Katy. Vora has a team around him that can deal with the legal loophole that sees poker rooms operate as social clubs in Texas.

Vora believes there is less energy among politicians to shut down poker rooms and more energy to make them work. He plans to have large tournament events by the 2nd quarter of 2022, with a licensing deal tying in his own favorite cardroom in Katy.
