Jennifer Tilly: From Hollywood to Poker Tables

Jennifer Tilly, a renowned actress and poker enthusiast, shared her journey into the world of poker, her relationship with Phil Laak, and her future plans in an interview. Tilly learned to play poker after moving to Hollywood and being taught by her boyfriend at the time. She revealed that her approach to poker has evolved from being an "ABC" player to a more aggressive style.

Tilly and Laak have been together for 15 years and avoid playing at the same poker table to maintain comfort. "When we register for a tournament, we come to the registration together just to say that we don't want to sit at the same table," Tilly said. She also mentioned that Laak is a very honest and tough teacher, which sometimes makes their interactions challenging.

Despite her celebrity status, Tilly feels that other players often underestimate her due to her past mistakes and her image as a passive player. "I think they play with me a little differently because they don't see me as a poker professional," she said. Tilly values both her Oscar nomination and her WSOP bracelet equally, considering them both significant achievements. Looking ahead, Tilly plans to participate in sit-and-go games on Poker After Dark and cash game shows with Antonio Esfandiari. She also expressed her desire to write a poker novel or screenplay to accurately portray the game, criticizing films like "Molly's Game" for their inaccuracies.
