Jason Mercier's Bracelet Bets Cause a Stir at World Series of Poker
Jason Mercier's friend Kyle Julius won a bracelet in a turbo tournament at the start of the World Series. Jason Mercier has played in three heads-up matches for a bracelet, winning two and earning $907,818 in prize money, excluding bracelet bet winnings.
Craig McCorkell finished sixth in the final table of tournament #23, earning $78,053. Vanessa Selbst would have had to pay Jason Mercier $1.8 million if he had won three bracelets. Vanessa Selbst offered Jason Mercier $100,000 to cancel the bet, but he refused.
Fedor Holz finished 18th in the $1,000 WSOP event and earned $8,716 in a $3,000 6-max tournament. Fedor Holz's total winnings for the summer were $1,332,620, not including the $3.5 million won in a tournament starting on May 29. Jason Mercier won a bet against Harley Troue, who bet $15,000 that he could eat a large amount of food in an hour without vomiting for the next four and a half hours.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
