Jason Koon Inducted into Poker Hall of Fame Amid Controversy

Jason Koon is the newest member of the Poker Hall of Fame. The voting system this year allowed for multiple candidates to be inducted, but only Koon received the required 22 votes. Jason Koon received 22 votes out of 110 cast, with 33 members of the Poker Hall of Fame voting.

David Bah expressed surprise that only 110 out of 132 votes were cast, and that Scott Siwer was not inducted. Jason Koon expressed surprise and honor at being inducted, mentioning that he considers some of the candidates his heroes and teachers.

Scott Siwer wrote a post congratulating Koon and expressing his support from other members of the Poker Hall of Fame. Several members of the Poker Hall of Fame, including Phil Hellmuth and Daniel Negreanu, suggested reforms to the voting system.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
