Indonesia Blocks Polymarket Amid Gambling Crackdown
Indonesia has become the latest country to block access to Polymarket, a popular prediction market platform. The Communications and Digital Ministry of Indonesia classified Polymarket as an 'online gambling platform', citing a probe into illegal gambling.
This move comes after Polymarket offered a prediction market on the likelihood of the incumbent President Prabowo Subianto being out of power before the term’s end. The market opened on May 21, which could be one of the reasons why Polymarket was finally targeted by the government.
Indonesia's crackdown on gambling activities is part of a broader effort to curb illegal gambling in the country. While Polymarket argues that its products do not constitute gambling or a game of chance, Indonesia has not taken heed of these arguments.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
