Hong Kong Police Officer Arrested for Organizing Underground Poker Tournaments
In a surprising turn of events, a 28-year-old Hong Kong police officer was arrested for organizing illegal gambling activities. The raid took place at an industrial building in the Kwun Tong district of Hong Kong. Two men, aged 23 and 29, were also arrested as suspected accomplices. Five others were charged with dealing in the illegal gambling establishment.
Participants in the underground poker room ranged from 18 to 50 years old, including students, unemployed individuals, and government employees. A total of 57 people are suspected of participating in the illegal gambling activities.
The officer and his accomplices face up to 7 years in prison and a fine of 640,000 USD. The severity of the penalties underscores Hong Kong's strict stance on illegal gambling, reflecting the broader Chinese policy on such activities.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
