Gus Hansen Kicks Off WSOP 2024 Main Event with Strategic Play

Gus Hansen, the charismatic poker legend, is featured in a special episode of the 'In the Mind of a Professional' series on Winamax Europe. This episode marks the ten-year anniversary of the series, which typically features professional poker players from the Winamax team. Hansen's victories in the World Poker Tour (WPT) tournaments in the early 2000s marked the beginning of television poker and significantly contributed to the poker boom.

Hansen's book, Every Hand Revealed, details his victory in the Aussie Millions 2007 and is still remembered fondly by many professionals. His unique approach to poker has inspired many and provided food for thought. Hansen discusses his strategy and interactions with other players, including João Vieira, before the main event of the WSOP-2024. He starts the main event with 60,000 chips and describes his playing style as tight and straightforward in hold'em tournaments.

In his initial hands, Hansen wins two small pots and loses one medium-sized pot. He mentions that he is curious and often calls small bets, which can be a weakness in no-limit hold'em. Hansen's strategic play and charismatic personality make for an exciting start to the WSOP-2024 main event.
