Garrett Adelstein: I Was Cheated and Poker Politics Are Cutthroat
Garrett Adelstein, a prominent figure in the poker world, recently gave a rare interview on the Doug Polk Podcast. During the interview, Adelstein discussed various contentious topics that have been circulating in the poker community, particularly those connected to him.
Adelstein described the politics in high stakes poker as cutthroat, stating that the intense focus on him after the Hustler Casino Live cheating scandal led to feelings not dissimilar to post-traumatic stress disorder. He mentioned that the abuse directed at him was tough to deal with, especially given his previous popularity on the scene. The interview also touched on the recent mutual badmouthing with Nik Airball. Adelstein posted a tweet calling Airball a terrible poker player and an even worse human being, which stemmed from Airball's trash talk at the table, which Adelstein found disrespectful.
One of the most discussed topics was the infamous J4 hand against Robbi Jade Lew. Adelstein firmly stands by his belief that he was cheated in that hand, stating that his opinion has only grown stronger over time. He also observed that Lew's playing style has changed significantly from what was seen on Hustler Casino Live last year. Doug Polk, the host, also revealed that his opinion still leans towards some form of cheating happening in the J4 hand.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
