Fedor Holtz on Poker Strategy, Future Plans, and the Importance of Community

Fedor Holtz is preparing for the final table of a 100,000 tournament. He finds it difficult to switch from super high roller tournaments to slower-paced main events, preferring to join tournaments a few hours after they start to maintain concentration.

Holtz believes his success in poker is due to his ability to learn from and collaborate with other players. He started playing poker at a time when the community was growing and sharing information. This collaborative environment has been crucial to his development as a player.

One of the key factors in Holtz's improvement was joining a Skype conference group. This group, which he joined three years ago, has been instrumental in his growth. The group includes players with diverse skills, from mathematical analysis to psychological insights and short stack strategies. Holtz credits this group with helping him learn a vast amount of information in a short period.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
