EuroVegas vs. Barcelona World: The Battle for Europe's Biggest Casino

Two massive casino projects are set to shake up the European gambling scene. EuroVegas, a long-awaited venture by Sheldon Adelson, will finally be created in Alcorcón, Spain.

Barcelona World, however, is not backing down without a fight. The Generalitat de Catalunya has unveiled an ambitious alternative project. Inspired by the model of Port Aventura, Barcelona World will feature six themed parks, each with its own hotel and casino. The themes will include zones inspired by the United States, Brazil, China, Russia, India, and the United States again.

Meanwhile, in the world of poker, Michael Phelps has made headlines with his impressive winnings. The retired Olympic swimmer won $100,000 playing cash games at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas during his post-Olympic vacation. Phelps, a known poker enthusiast, has been enjoying the game in his free time and even tweeted about his casino visits, although he initially denied his winnings.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
