The Altai region is known for its unique natural landscapes, including blue lakes, high cliffs, dense forests, dry steppes, and vast meadows. The region is often compared to the Swiss Alps and Tibet due to its stunning landscapes. The Altai region is home to six distinct natural zones, including tundra, forest, steppe, semi-desert, subalpine, and alpine zones. Five natural sites in Altai were included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2002.
